In 1987, Universal Metal Spinning was contracted by a local artist to spin the chalice for Pope John Paul II's historical visit to San Francisco. |
Rudolf Blunck, the founder of Universal Metal Spinning, was one of the few people that was willing to take on this task. The chalice for the pope and his bishops were all spun from pure silver. Once the chalice was spun, the final details and finishing were completed by the artist. The Popes visit to Candlestick Park in 1987, attracted over 86,000 people. Rudolf was so proud of his work, that he decided to make the chalice his company logo. |
